Velma Robertson

Graveside services for Velma J. Robertson, 88, of Lubbock will be held
on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Peaceful Gardens
Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the
Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening
from 6-8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson
passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. She was born December 31,
1921 in Parsons, Kansas to Leslie R. and Carrie W. Locke. She married
Joe Bill Robertson in 1941. She received her BA in Education from Adams
State College and her MA from Eastern New Mexico University. She was a
gifted elementary school teacher. She taught Adult Sunday School for
many years. She was a long time member of Oakwood Baptist Church, but
more recently worshiped with her children and grandchildren at LakeRidge
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include
her husband of 68 years, Joe Bill; her daughter, Kathleen Jones and
husband Bobby; grandchildren, Melissa Jones and husband Garry and Dianna
St. Clair and husband Christopher; and her beloved great-grandchildren,
Benton, Graham and Katy St. Clair, all of Lubbock. She was preceded in
death by her parents; three brothers, Rollin Locke, Miles Locke and
Truman Locke; and a daughter, Elizabeth Janette Lozier.
