Meeting Sue and Thelbert Miller was one of the best things that ever happened to me.I joked that I came to their house because, "I smelled the food". That isn't true. Sure, they were so generouse we shared many meals together. What I really longed for and came for was the warmth and love I felt in their lovely home. They saw me through my starving college student phase, my divorced struggling single parent phase, my up and coming buying a new house phase, and now the happily married with two beautiful kids phase. We even sold a little Amway.
I learned a few things about cooking and alot about Christian love in their home. Thelbert helped me find and buy my first home, it is "a HONEY of a house!" he said. It was one of the best decisions I ever made and he helped me with it like a dad would, looking out for me.
Sue helped me get a scholarship and Thelbert stored it in his safe deposit box and went and got it for me as I needed it, until it was gone. They were really good to me.
Sue helped me alter my wedding dress. I would cherish it for that alone. And we brought a BBQ brisket and all the fixings and had our rehearsal dinner in their garden in the backyard. It was magical.
We shared many memories and just shared our lives for nearly 33 years. They have left a wonderful legacy in their beautiful family and in the many lives they touched. I will always love and miss them, and be grateful for their gift of friendship.
Love,
Ann English Hill

a wonderful blessing your family was to the Herring family. When my parents moved to Lubbock they joined the church and there were Sue and Thelbert to take us in. Suea and my mom Anne Herring enjoyed each other and my dad Brooks Herring worked for Thelbert at Prudential. Thank goodness for the open heart and acceptance they showed. Both mom and dad have passed away, how wonderful that you had your dad for so long--he was a gift to those around him and I hope his loveing memory will be with you for a lifetime. Gods peace be with you and comfort you! (I believe that Jerri once grew her fingernails and sold them )what a memory!

I knew Thelbert and Sue in the 70's when me and my husband Wayne Conger went to the single parents class at First Baptist Church and remained close friendship with them until moving away in 1980. Thelbert and Sue was a main hold for me in my life with my parents living in Mass. then in Houston. Thank you for allowing us to share your parents with you they were wonderful people. Wayne passed away in Jan. 2005. So I am sure that they are catching up on all the news.

How blessed we cousins were to have had such wonderful fathers (and mothers, too)! I know Uncle Thelbert and the whole Miller clan who have gone before him are having a big time in heaven today! Love to you all, Marilyn
