Michael Avallone

    Graveside services for Michael J. Avallone, 93, of Lubbock will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Park.  Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

     Michael lived a full happy active life until he passed away on July 27, 2010.  Michael Joseph Avallone was born on February 7, 1917 in Newark, NJ.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II where he started his career as a mechanical engineer.  He married Emma Cleo Edwards on September 19, 1943 in Lubbock, TX.  She preceded him in death on March 6, 2002.  He was also preceded in death by his sons, Gary Michael and James Allen Avallone.  Michael and Cleo were charter members of Southcrest Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his daughter, Mary Beth Smith; his longtime caregivers and friend, Theresa, Julius, Ryan and Kimberly Abella.

          Michael loved his two dogs, Amy and Paris.  And to his friends at Barnes and Nobles, thank you for being there for him.
