Lou Clark
Lou E. Clark, 74, of Lubbock passed from
this life on Friday, July 23, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas. She was the
daughter of L. D. “Bud” and Dollie Edgeworth Smith, born March 23, 1936
in Baird, Texas. She moved to Lubbock in 1949. Lou had many interests.
She owned and operated restaurants for some time. She became the first
women in Texas to receive the Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year
award.
Lou married W.
H. Clark, Jr. on June 23, 1975. Lou retired from the restaurant
business and founded The Frame Mart and Gallery in 1981.
Lou enjoyed
reading, cooking and gardening. Lou was an avid bowler for more than 50
years in Lubbock. She loved to travel to state and national bowling
tournaments, rarely missing any. She held many offices in the bowling
association. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame, member Emeritus
and life time member of the USBC. She was a great supporter of Lady
Raider Basketball and in years past, the Lubbock Hubbers Baseball team.
She loved traveling with her family, especially her grandchildren. She
had many friends who remember her gentleness and kindness.
Survivors
include her husband, W. H. Clark, Jr.; 4 stepsons, Mark (Deborah) Clark,
Ted (Gayla) Clark both of Lubbock, Jim Tryheart of New Mexico, and Gary
Tryheart of Nevada; 3 sisters, Allena Mason, Wanda Holden, and Barbara
(Van) York; 3 brothers, Richard Smith, Jimmy (Sheryl) Smith and Orval
(Anita) Smith; 5 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral
services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Sanders
Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Osborne officiating. Burial will
follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders
Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Sanders on Monday
evening from 5-7:00 p.m.
