Royce Hanes   

    Funeral services for Royce Hanes, 81, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.

   Royce passed away June 27, 2010. He was born October 7, 1928 in Shamrock, TX to Charlie and Opal Hanes. Royce was a truck driver over 50 years. He drove for several companies including Time DC in Lubbock and Permian Oil Company. Royce married Leora Jane on August 18, 1976 in Lubbock.

    Royce loved gardening and working in his yard. He was a friendly out-going neighbor who had a passion for life. Royce was said to be the sweetest man alive.

    Royce is survived by his wife, Leora Jane Hanes; two sons, Royce Hanes, Jr. and wife, Cindee, and Jim Chambers and wife, Jackie; five daughters, Sherrill Foerster and husband, Gary, Carol Walden and husband, Jimmy Dean, Rita Lawlis and husband, Calvin (Buddy), Sandy Pollard and husband, Jerry, and Judy Wilson and husband, Herman; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Linda Grubbs; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Roger Chambers; a sister; two brothers; and his parents.
