Services
for Marvin Floyd, 86, of Lubbock will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday March 6,
2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Masonic graveside services will be at
11:30 a.m. at the Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Sanders
Funeral Home.
Marvin Calvin Floyd
was born in Jefferson County, OK on August 17, 1923 to Frank and Della
Floyd. He passed from this life March 2, 2010.
Marvin attended
Shallowater, County-line, and Abernathy Public Schools. He married
Jeri Webb on November 18, 1944 in Plainview, TX and they had 63
wonderful years together. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeri
October 25, 2008 in Lubbock.
Marvin was
President of Board of Directors of County-Line Co-op Gin, a member of
Abernathy School Board, a charter member of South Plains Telephone Co-op
Service Committee. He was a deacon of County-Line Baptist Church.
Marvin earned a Lifetime teaching certificate in all the esoteric work
of Free Masonry and enjoyed teaching men for most of his Masonic career.
Marvin was Past
Master of Shallowater Lodge. He helped organize Wolffoth Lodge and was
Past Master of Wofforth Lodge. He was a Charter member of the Lubbock
Scottish Rite Bodies and was a cornated a 32 Degree KCCH.
Marvin is survived
by a son, Ronald Floyd and wife Jeneane of Lubbock; a daughter, Phyllis
Floyd-Harp of County Line; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
The family will
receive friends Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home,
1420-Main Street, Downtown Lubbock.
