Agustina Gaitàn

Agustina Leija Gaitán, beloved wife and mother went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2013 in Houston, TX. Ms. Gaitán was a former long time resident of Lubbock. She had more recently lived in Houston. Ms. Gaitán was born on April 27, 1931 in Cloete, Coahuila, Mexico to Florencio M. Leija and Silvestra Leija Montelongo. She married Manuel G. Gaitán of Sterling City, TX on October 3, 1953. Ms. Gaitán dedicated her life to her principal loves - her husband, her children and the study of the Bible. She had a powerful healing touch and her prayer left you feeling peaceful and protected. Surviving loved ones include her spouse of 59 years, Manuel Gonzáles Gaitán and her three children and their families: Elsa and Juan Esquivel with grandsons, Daniel and Michael Esquivel of San Antonio; Elvia Gaitán of Los Angeles, CA; and Eloy and Cecilia Gaitán with granddaughter, Victoria, and grandsons Marcus, Matthew, Jeremy and Joshua Gaitán of Houston. A Rosary service will be held Thursday night, 8/1/12 at 7:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated the following morning at 10:00am also at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Martín Piña officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. After the interment services on Friday, the Gaitán family will host family and friends at Jiménez Restaurant at 1217 Crickets Ave. in Lubbock. The family wishes to extend there eternal gratitude to her caregivers - Abby Lares, Irma Perez, Ana Cecilia Palacios, Roxanna Melgar, and Marlo Longoria for their love and devotion. They could not have asked for better angels to care for her and they will be forever in their hearts. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or any charity of your choice.
