Bob Spence

Robert Timothy Spence, Sr., 94, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. He was born October 25, 1916 in Rowlett, Texas to Robert Alexander and Annie Spence. He served in the United States Army preceding World War II and was honorably discharged in 1941. Bob moved to Lubbock in 1944 and retired as a Captain with the Lubbock Fire Department after 34 years of service. He married Videlia Ellen Spence in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1960. Bob married Geneva Spence in 1961 and she preceded him in death. He married Catherine Spence in 1975. She preceded him in death in 2008. Bob is survived by daughters, Diana Spence White and husband Larry of Stamford, Carol Ann Peterson of Lubbock, Kay Parr and husband Jerry of Weatherford, and Christy Mosser and husband Chris of Lubbock; sons, Tim Spence and wife Jan of Lubbock, Gene Spence and wife Mary of Lubbock, Howard Spence and wife LeAnn of Lubbock, Ed Spence and wife Karen of Lago Vista, and Lloyd Daniel and wife Carol and Tomball, TX; daughter-in-law, Judy Craigo of Dallas; grandchildren, Jamie Pierson and wife Kristen, Emily Spence Edwards and husband Chancy, Leah White Henderson and husband Hondo, Holly Spence Pierce and husband Henry, Travis Parr, Rody Peterson, Kyle Peterson, Misty Ann Peterson, Kobi Spence Mitchell and husband Garrett, Rebecca Spence, Charles Allen, Haley Allen Robertson and husband Eric, Kenny White, David White, and John White; great-grandchildren, Chambliss Pierson, Moreau Pierson, Kaitlyn Pierce, Slayton Pierson, Carson Edwards, Kelsea Pierce, Callie Edwards, Jaxon Henderson, Ashlynn Robertson and Kamryn Pierce; and numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Bob was preceded in death by sons, Dennis Wayne Spence, Alva Wayne Daniel, and Charles W. Pierson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with honors provided by the Lubbock Fire Department Honor Guard will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Jack McCarty, Dr. Andrew Dentino, Dr. Ohmar Win, LaPaloma PACE Program, Garrison Geriatric Care Center, and Hospice of Lubbock for their loving care in his final journey of life.
