Catherine Mireles

Catherine (Catarina) Mireles, 93, of Lubbock, TX, passed away on July 30, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Catherine was born on April 30, 1931, in Flatonia, TX, to Porfirio and Dolores Villanueva. She married Paul (Pablo) Mireles on July 24, 1947, in Denver, CO. Catherine was a longtime and devoted member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Catherine was a homemaker and welcomed all who entered her home. She enjoyed puzzles, reading the Bible, and spending time with her family. She was an amazing cook, and she made sure everyone was well-fed and cared for. She will never be forgotten, and her warmth, laughter, and spunky spirit will always be missed. Her loved ones include her children: Josie Sanchez, Daniel Mireles, Frances Mireles, Toni Martinez, James Mireles, Lupe Sanchez, Esteban Mireles, and David Mireles, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Catherine is survived by her siblings: Theodora Villanueva Tovar of La Grange, TX; Thomasa Villanueva Quintero of Waelder, TX; Martin Villanueva, Sr. of La Grange, TX; Ascension Villanueva Morales and husband Francisco of La Grange, TX; and Juanita Villanueva Herrera and husband Gregorio of Smithville, TX. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Mireles; her parents, Porfirio and Dolores Villanueva; her children, Gloria Castillo and Guadalupe Mireles; and her siblings, Bonifacia "Bonnie" Perez formerly of Portland, TX, Goria Villanueva and Nasario Villanueva formerly of Flatonia, TX; Fidencio Villanueva formerly of La Grange, TX; Petra "Betty" Quintero and husband, Sirildo formerly of Waelder, TX; brothers-in-law: Luis Quintero formerly of Waelder, TX; and Raymond Tovar formerly of La Grange, TX; and sister-in-law, Julia Villanueva formerly of La Grange, TX. Family visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Rosary Services will be at 7:00 PM in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
