Conchita "Connie" Acevedo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mother, Conchita (Connie) Salazar Acevedo, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2026. She was born on May 9, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas, to Santos Salazar and Cresencia Ybarra. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Ruben R. Acevedo, on April 13, 1963, with whom she shared many years of love and commitment until his passing. Together, they built a family that became her greatest joy and legacy. Connie worked at a local Egg plant and later at the Pioneer Hotel in Lubbock. She then dedicated her life to being a homemaker, where she was deeply involved in all of her children's school and after-school extracurricular activities. Her love, support, and presence were a constant source of strength for her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rachael Patton and her husband Andre; Elizabeth Bryand and her husband Chris; Monica Berlanga and her husband Joe; and Christopher Acevedo and his wife Jennifer. She also lovingly raised her granddaughters, Christina Guitron and Mallory Perez, as her own. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 34 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to one. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished each and everyone deeply. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Santos Salazar and Cresencia Ybarra; her beloved husband, Ruben R. Acevedo; her daughters, Diane Acevedo and Linda Perez; and her sisters, Anita Atkinson, Ermenia Mejia, and Naomi Salazar. A woman of strong Christian faith, Connie found comfort and strength in her daily walk with God. She read her Bible faithfully, prayed for others without ceasing, and lived her life as a reflection of her beliefs. She found joy in drawing, beading, and listening to Christian music, but above all, she found her greatest happiness in loving and caring for her family. Celebration of Life be held at Sanders Funeral Home from 6:00-7:30 p,m. Sunday, April 26, 2026. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2026 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our family and friends for the messages of love and unwavering support during this incredibly challenging time. Additionally, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to UMC Hospice of Lubbock for their exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support throughout this most difficult period.
