Dr. Daniel Blake Gafford, II

Lubbock, Texas - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Daniel "Blake" Gafford, II, a beloved member of the Lubbock community, who was called home to Christ on September 11, 2023, at the age of 43, in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Born on May 7, 1980, in Lubbock, Texas, Blake was the eldest child of Daniel Blake Gafford and Margaret Gafford. He was also a loving and devoted older brother to his siblings who survive him, Jordan "Grant" Gafford and his wife, Catherine "Jordan" Gafford, as well as Megan Cannon and her husband, Aaron Cannon. Blake was not only a caring brother, but also a doting uncle to his four nephews and three nieces, whom he adored beyond words. Blake graduated from Lubbock High School in 1998 and went on to obtain his Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. Blake's journey through life was marked by an unparalleled dedication to the well-being of others. With his extensive education, he established a thriving acupuncture clinic in Lubbock, where he passionately served his community for the past decade. He approached his practice with boundless compassion and an unwavering commitment to his patients. Every person who walked through his clinic doors was welcomed with a warm smile and the assurance that they were in the presence of a healer who genuinely cared. Blake had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his genuine, empathetic nature endeared him to everyone he encountered. He was also an avid traveler, finding joy in exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories. His curiosity and love of learning knew no bounds, and he embraced every opportunity to broaden his horizons. He was the most multifaceted individual we ever knew. He had the ability to make others laugh, feel understood and cared for, and even his family would say that even if you thought you knew everything about him, he was full of surprises. Blake was rare in so many ways, and he will be missed more than we can put into words. In addition to his family, Blake leaves behind a legacy of healing, kindness, and compassion. He truly was an extension of the arm of Christ in the way he cared for others. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his memory will forever be cherished. Blake was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Bob and Glenna Gafford, and Durwood Hillman and Martha Ross. A private burial service for family members will be held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Blake's life with friends, family, and his patients at the Gafford residence on September 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to For Her Women's Healthcare Clinic in Blake's honor, continuing his legacy of caring for others. Blake touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the countless hearts he touched during his lifetime.
