Dave McMurray

Cherishing the memories and celebrating the life of David Lane McMurray (The Dave), who left us to be with the Lord on October 23, 2024. Dave touched the lives of many as a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will forever resonate in our hearts. He was born on March 26, 1959 to George and Edna (Sissy) McMurray. Dave is survived by his son, George Jared and wife Tracy; his daughter, Davanna Jared and husband Jacob Galecki; Dave had three others that he considered his children, Jaret Dunlap and wife Sharon, Ashleigh Brodbeck, and Jay Brodbeck; four grandchildren, Austin Jared, Megan Jerad, Davanna Chelsey Galecki, and Jas Lee Dunlap; and his brothers, George (Skip) McMurray and wife Toni, Eddie McMurray and wife Karen. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry McMurray and Gary McMurray. Dave's journey through life was marked by diversity and adventure. A proud graduate of Lubbock High School Class of 1977, he embarked on a career path that saw him excel in various roles from managing restaurants and bars to operating his own business, Home Filter Service. Later he found fulfillment in his role as a unit manager at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he devoted 16 years of dedicated service. Known for cooking and music, Dave's musical talents included several instruments, but drums were his passion. He played in several local bands over the years. Dave also loved animals. He not only cared for several dogs and cats, but he also had a unique affinity for more exotic pets including birds, tarantulas, snakes, and even a six foot caiman crocodile named Alf. Beyond his professional and personal pursuits, Dave was a truth-seeker who delved into Hebrew and Greek to deepen his understanding of the Bible, exemplifying his thirst for knowledge and wisdom. We invite you to celebrate and commemorate Dave's life during visitation at Sanders Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Dave will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.
