Donald Musick

Donald Gene Musick, a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 74 after a year long illness. Born on November 17, 1951, in Floydada, Texas, Donald spent much of his life in Lubbock, where he established his own business with a lot of hard work to own one of the finest machine shops in the area. He was always asked by many of his client's to make unique or repair special things beside his normal making parts for Lubbock Cotton Gins and more. Some of the unique projects he did in his machine shop was asked to repair the Texas Tech Bell so it could ring again at the TT games and in making a Cannon that would shoot for one client. He was always up to anything and he knew he could do it with just a little processing in his mind. His attention to detail and commitment to precision not only defined his professional endeavors but also resonated deeply in his personal life. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Donald cherished his time served in Germany where he and his wife Shelley (Philbrick) Musick moved for a few years and traveled all of Europe in between his service duty making a life time of memories with new friends . Shelley and Donald moved back to Lubbock raising their family for 40 years. Later in life he married Doris Roye, and enjoyed various activities such as being a part of a bowling league and traveling. Known for his straightforward nature, he balanced a competitive spirit with an unwavering sense of humor, never taking life too seriously. Donald was a man of the outdoors who thrived on the joy of sports, later finding solace and enjoyment in the game of golf and of course his classic westerns movies in between especially his favorite "John Wayne". He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Summer Herrera (Fidel Herrera), his son Jason Musick (Shelby Musick), along with his siblings, Teresa Reissig (Dan Reissig), Robert Musick (Claire Musick) and a host of grandchildren-Nathaniel Molina, Ivan Musick, Erin Lawrence, and Jonovan Leal-will carry forward his legacy of kindness and intelligence. Donald was also a proud great-grandfather to McKenzie Molina and Paxton Molina, who he loved very much. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Musick; his father, Hovey Musick; and his mother, Wilma Musick. Family and friends will gather to honor Donald Musick at the Sanders Memorial Chapel on June 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM for his funeral service. His family would welcomed family and friends for a time of reflection and Visitation at Sanders Funeral Home on June 22, 2026, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Following the funeral service, Donald will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park,15602 TX-493 Loop, Lubbock, TX 79423, with military honors. In his lifetime, Donald touched many hearts, reminding us all of the importance of friendship, compassion and what was important in life. He loved to offer advice to those who sought his wisdom when asked. As we bid farewell, we remember him for the wonderful man he was, and his spirit will live on in the memories of all who loved him. We want to Thank Hospice of Lubbock Leslie, & Laura who were his special friends who he loved so much and Home Instead who he made close friends during his care. All took great care of Donald and he felt cared for and so loved in this difficult time.
