Duane Hays

Duane Hays, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 86 in Lubbock, Texas. Born on September 6, 1938, in Wheeler, Texas, Duane led a fulfilling life dedicated to his family and his career in the cement industry, where he proudly served as a Shift Foreman for Southwestern Portland Cement.Duane will be cherished and remembered by his children: sons ,Tracy Hays (Elaine Hays), David Hays, Kent Jones, Paul Jones, daughter, Jennifer Jones ; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Duane is survived by, his aunt Armenda Jones. His brothers, Jerry (Bonnie), Ron, Tom (Teena) Hays and sister Patricia Hays Crossland (Harold) who he enjoyed spending time with. They played a lot of cards together and shared many laughs and memories. Throughout his life, he demonstrated unwavering love and support for his family, instilling in them the values of hard work, dedication, and kindness. His legacy will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those he touched.A celebration of Duane's life will be held with a heartfelt Memorial Service at Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church on June 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance and to share treasured memories. Prior to the memorial, a Visitation will take place at Sanders Memorial Chapel on June 20, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 PM. On June 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM, a Graveside Service will be held at Idalou Cemetery, where Duane will be laid to rest in the beautiful community he called home.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages all to honor Duane's memory by performing acts of kindness in their daily lives. His spirit will live on through the love and laughter shared by all who were lucky enough to know him. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doris Hays and wife, Sandra Gay Hays. He loved spending time with his family especially watching grandchildren's sports activities. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sandra. But more than anything he was dedicated to his Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
