Dwayne Vernon "J.B." Cochran

Dwayne Vernon "J.B." Cochran, 80, of Charleston, West Virginia passed away October 15, 2023. Dwayne was born March 19, 1943 in Nevada City, CA to Emmett and Loretta Cochran. He was a Boy Scout and received his Eagle Scout Badge. Dwayne graduated from Midland High School, Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Physics, and post-graduate work at Texas Tech. He was a designer in the Aircraft Industry; worked for Caterpillar, Inc. designing various heavy equipment. In 1979, he moved to Midland designing Off-Shore Drilling Rigs. His design expertise led him to travel all over the world. While attending Texas Tech, J.B. was very involved with the Saddle Tramps, and he helped design the Seal and the fountain at Texas Tech. J.B. loved his Red Raiders. He was a very active father to his daughters and was involved with all their activities; coaching girls' softball, he was a band and orchestra dad, helping with homework from anywhere in the world. Beginning in his college years, he tutored, mentored, encouraged, and inspired generations of people who went on to have successful lives. J.B. was a Christian and loved his God, his country and his family and friends. He never knew a stranger, was always willing to help anyone in need and always had a smile on his face. In the last years of his life, he enjoyed the mountains, forests and rivers of West Virginia. Loved ones include life partner, Jaime Simmons of Charleston, W.V.; daughters, Erica Cochran of Lubbock, and Whitney Cochran of Sweetwater; Jennifer Miller Cochran, whom he was married to for twenty-nine years; grandchildren, M'Kayla, Breyden, Alexis and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Hensley; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Preceded in death by Emmett Cochran (Father), Loretta Cochran (Mother), Phyllis Spalding (Sister), brother, Larry Cochran. We would like to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Sissonville, WV, who took amazing care of him. The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 5:00 to 6:30 PM. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
