Eueritha Elliott

Eueritha Joy Elliott, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, peacefully departed this life on January 25, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 11, 1945, in Lueders, Texas, Joy was a vibrant spirit known for her warm heart and joyful laughter. She met her husband Roger and was married in Lubbock, TX in 1961 where they then began a family, raising their four girls. She dedicated her professional life to the food and beverage industry working at multiple food brokerages in Lubbock, where she forged lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Joy found happiness in the connections she nurtured both personally and professionally. Joy cherished her family above all else, leaving behind her two devoted daughters and one sister, Cynthia Reece of Lubbock, Briana and husband Brett Bowland of McKinney and sister Gayla Cox of Lubbock. She was also a proud grandmother, fondly remembered by her grandsons: Andrew Elliott, Brandon Reece, Chris Reece, Doug Reece, Roger Jenkins, Derrick Harvey, Brenden Bowland and Jake Bowland; and granddaughters: Jessica Cicatko, Kendra Reece, Christal Harvey, Emma Bowland, and 17 great grandchildren. Life with Joy was filled with laughter and memorable moments. She was an avid fisherman, always ready for a weekend adventure by the water. The holiday season brought her immense joy as she delighted in baking Christmas candy for her family. In her downtime, Joy also loved sewing, knitting, gathering around the table for a friendly game of cards, and could often be found immersed in puzzles or taking Izzy for a ride to Sonic. Joy had a green thumb, and her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Many evenings were spent at the grocery store, where she enjoyed shopping seven nights a week because she always needed something. Some of her fondest memories were created with, Roger, enjoying outings at either Sonic or Taco Villa for a nightly diet coke and 15 minutes of alone time together. Joy's vibrant spirit and boundless love for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will gather to celebrate her life at City of Lubbock Cemetery for a graveside service on February 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Following the service will be a reception at the Elliott home located at 3404 59th Street, Lubbock, TX, as a tribute to her life filled with love, and laughter. Joy was preceded in death by: father James Covey, mother Marguerite Covey, husband Roger Elliott, daughter Kathleen Standke, daughter Teresa Harvey; brothers: James Covey, Forest Covey, Dennie Covey, Ricky Covey, Scotty Covey; Sisters: Barbara Parker, Margaret Mantooth, Luella Covey, Patsy Davis.
