Geraldine (Jerry) Stotts

Geraldine (Jerry) Taylor Stotts, 93, LUBBOCK - Our beloved mother and grandmother, Jerry Stotts, went to be with her Lord on January 20, 2015. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, with Dr. Andy Hurst, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Sunday, January 25, from 2- 3:30 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home. Jerry was born June 2, 1921, in Slaton, Texas, to William Thomas Taylor and Nettie Byrom Taylor. She graduated from Slaton High School in 1939 and was voted as the students' favorite female in her senior year. She married Don Carlon Stotts on October 12, 1941, and was a loving homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a fabulous cook. She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. In recent years, she was a shut-in member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and attended church services at Elmbrook Estates where she lived. Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son, Don Taylor Stotts, two brothers, Bobby Eugene Taylor and William Thomas Taylor, Jr., and three sisters, Neoma Jewel Taylor, Omega Marie Pounds and Bonnie Jean Jones. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Dickson and husband, Fred Dickson, Denise Edwards and husband, Clay Edwards, all of Lubbock; daughter-in-law, Rita Stotts of Midland; sister-in-law, Juanita Taylor of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Dickson, Jeremy Dickson, Justin Dickson, and Matthew Edwards, all of Lubbock, Melissa Hughes of Fremont, California, and Cary Stotts, Camron Stotts and Craig Stotts, all of Midland. She is also survived by twenty-seven great-grandchildren and many loving extended family members. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. We will miss our dear Mother and Mamaw so much. We celebrate her wonderful life and faith, and we cherish her loving memory as we mourn her passing along with many other family members and friends who loved and treasured her, too. We gratefully suggest memorials to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels or Hospice of Lubbock.
