Gladys Fay Moore

G. Fay Moore, 95, of Lubbock, Texas passed away September 28, 2023. Fay was born January 26, 1928, in Amarillo, TX to William and Gladys Ford. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1946 was the last surviving alumni of that class. Soon after Fay met her husband Edwin R Moore of Arlington. She and Ed moved from Amarillo to Abilene in 1948 after their first son, Bill was born. Daughter Vicki and second son, Mike quickly followed. With three small children Fay was a busy wife mother and homemaker, Fay worked several jobs outside the home after the children were in school. As a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority she and Ed did charity work and attended many social functions. The couple became avid bowlers and after retirement traveled with an RV club. They also enjoyed many holidays, cruises and trips with family. They spent 13 years at Fun Valley Resort, Colorado where they managed the gift shop and made lifelong friends playing cards and dominos. In 2001 they moved to Lubbock and join St. Matthews's church. They also made friends by joining the Three Rs Club which met weekly to play cards and share a potluck lunch. Loved ones include son Bill Moore and daughter Vicki Guynes. Bill's wife Linda, their daughter Joanna, husband Justin, children: Henry, Charlie and Holly. Bill and Linda's daughter Marianne and husband Matt, children Nolan and Harlow. Vicki's husband Doug and their daughter, Jennifer, husband Luke, sons Gray and Reese. Vicki and Doug's son, Jason, wife Emily and daughters Bonnie and Eliza. Preceded in death by husband Edwin Moore, son Michael Ray Moore, parents William and Gladys Ford; and Brother George Ford. The family would like to thank Judy Langham and Angelea Clavida for the loving care they gave Fay throughout the years. A celebration of her life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Freddy Thomas officiating. Graveside services will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
