Harold Glenn Carnes

A celebration of the life of Harold Glenn Carnes, 79, of Lubbock will be at 2 pm, Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Sanders Memorial Chapel, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, Texas with Dee Lancaster of Portales, NM officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 pm on Thursday, February 14 and from 9:30-11:00 am on February 15 at Sanders Funeral Home. Harold passed from this life on February 12, 2013. He was born on December 4, 1933 to Annis Peek Carnes and Venus Oram Carnes in Red River County, Texas. He was a faithful Christian worshiping with the Indiana Avenue church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas after having served as an elder with the Caprock church of Christ for 28 years until its closing in 2008. He served in the United States Navy from Nov, 1955 - Aug, 1957. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1962. He was a practicing Certified Public Accountant in Lubbock from 1962 until his retirement in 2006. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan Duncan Carnes; daughter, Patti Carnes Roberson and husband Richard of Dallas; sisters, Nina Carnes Mayfield and husband Bobby of Lubbock, Jo Carnes Adams and husband Bill of Kerrville, Tx, Nannette Carnes Oswalt and husband Jim of Lubbock; brother, Bobby Dan Carnes and wife Dottie of Mabank, Texas; granddaughters, Erin Roberson Holland and husband Clayton of Saint Marys, Georgia, and Kasey Lane Roberson of Denton, Texas; and the sparkle of his life, great granddaughters Leah Belle and Emma Jean Holland. He also leaves behind many, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins who all loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, V.O. and Annis Carnes. Harold was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. If you happened to be driving down Flint, you would most likely find him in the front yard with a rake in hand, his big straw cowboy hat on his head and ALWAYS whistling a tune. But most importantly and the most profound love of his life was his love for the Lord, Jesus Christ. The legacy he leaves behind will forever be that he was first and foremost, a Christian.
