Jayne Ann Williston Miller Jayne Ann Williston Miller, 62, of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012. The family will host visitors on Monday from 5:00-7:00pm at Sanders Funeral Home. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 4:00pm at First Christian Church of Lubbock. Russ Murphy will officiate. Jayne Ann was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 9, 1950 to C. Lincoln Williston, IV and Jane Leucht Williston. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Austin and obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Texas Tech University. Jayne Ann married David Miller on June 3, 1972. She taught special education at Wheatley Elementary and was a home-bound teacher for students with special needs. As a former First Lady of Lubbock, she served as a community volunteer in many capacities. At the time of her death she was chapter advisor for Chi Omega Sorority and was a board member for Marian Moss Enterprises, the Louise Underwood Center for the Arts, University Medical Center Foundation, and Spirit Ranch. She was also an active member of Lubbock Symphony Guild, American Heart Association, Texas Tech Chancellor’s Council, Lubbock Women’s Club, Junior League of Lubbock, and Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Jayne Ann supported her kids’ PTA programs, serving as president at Waters Elementary, Evans Junior High, and Monterey High School, and she and David were presidents of the Monterey Booster Club. In recognition of her years of service, she was a recipient of a Life Membership in the Texas State PTA and of the Pat S. Moore Award from the Junior League of Lubbock. Yet above all else, Jayne Ann’s greatest passion was nurturing her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Linc Williston, and her father-in-law, Alex Miller. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 40 years, David, and three children; Matt Miller of Lubbock, Tim and Angela Miller of Lubbock, and Beth and Lee Berend of Wichita Falls. She has seven grandchildren: Beau and Abby Miller; Carlee, Pierce, and Graham Miller; and Allyson and Lawson Berend. She is also survived by her mother Jane Williston of Austin, sister Christine Rhodes of San Antonio, brother Chris Williston of Austin, and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. The Miller family thanks all of Jayne Ann’s doctors, nurses, and caregivers who attended to her needs.
