Funeral services for Jimmie Nell Norris Stiggers Smith is set for 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Parkway Church of Christ, located at 3120 Parkway Drive of Lubbock, TX. Jimmie died Oct. 7 in Dallas, surrounded by friends and loved ones. The viewing will be Friday at Sanders Funeral Home between 6-7:30 p.m., located at 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, TX. Jimmie Nell Norris Stiggers Smith a.k.a Jeanette, was born in Leonard, Texas on November 5, 1940 to Ola Mae Norris and Willie Henry Norris. She was a member of Parkway Church of Christ for over 50 years while she lived Lubbock, Texas. After moving to Dallas, she moved her membership to 4thAvenue Church of Christ and Lake June Road Church of Christ. She was a faithful member until her death. She was married to K.P. (Calvin) Stiggers for 20 years and had four children together; Raymond Stigers (deceased), Rita F. Stiggers Samuels of Mesquite, Texas; Paula K. Harvey (Timothy E.) of Dallas, Texas; and Felecia Wright (Wilbert) of San Antonio, Texas. Jimmie worked for Frito Lay for 24 years until she retired to take care of her son, Raymond. After Raymond’s death, she became a foster mother through the Bair Foundation. She fostered Richard and Noel Lopez and Antonio Pena for 5 years until she was unable to care for them due to her illness. She loved sports, especially football. Her favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys, the same team her son Raymond loved. She enjoyed laughing and spending time with her grandchildren, Lindsey R. Wilson (Truman Jr.) of Houston, Texas; Stephon Wright of San Antonio, Devin Scott of Dallas, Jillian B. Samuels of Carrollton, Texas; Kelsey T. Samuels of Garland, Texas; and Tye E. Harvey of Grand Prairie, Texas. Jimmie was a strong woman, who raised her daughters to be strong-willed, independent women with a mind of their own. Her legacy is wrapped in our memories; memories shared over games of dominoes, Thanksgiving dinners, late night movies and years and years of laughs. She was fearless. She was real. She knew how to work a nerve, but she always loved hard. Preceding her in death was her mother, Ola Mae Norris and her father, Willie Henry Norris; her brother, Lester Norris, her son Raymond Stiggers, and her ex-husband, K.P. (Calvin) Stiggers. She is mourned by her daughters Rita F. Stiggers Samuels of Mesquite, Paula K. Harvey (Timothy E.) of Dallas, and Felecia Wright (Wilbert) of San Antonio; her sisters: Demmie Hudson of Dallas, Lorraine Woods of Detroit, Michigan; Sheila Hicks of San Antonio, and her brothers, Jerry Don Norris (Johnnie) of Dallas, Robert Norris (Louise) of Lubbock, Ricky Norris of Mesquite, Gary Norris of Fort Worth, Texas; and Rodney Norris (LeeEtta Hollins) of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews
