Kandie Jean Bailey

After a valiant battle fought with determination and grace, Kandie Jean Bailey completed her faithful journey on this earth on November 17, 2025. Kandie was born in Clovis, New Mexico, to Darrell and Jeanie Bailey on August 22, 1961. She grew up in Clovis, where she developed a deep love for helping others and found joy in music and performance through her years in band and the flag corps, experiences that helped shape her creativity, discipline, and joyful spirit. After graduating from Clovis High School in 1979, Kandie married and moved to Amarillo, Texas. Shortly thereafter, she became a young single mother who worked tirelessly while raising children and eventually returned to school to pursue her calling in nursing. Through incredible dedication and sacrifice, she earned her RN degree from Amarillo College in 1994. She made Lubbock her home in 2001, where she worked in operating rooms, patient care, and home health. Kandie was serving as a travel nurse in Durango, Colorado, when she was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2022. Over the next three years, the disease took over her body but never her spirit. She faced every challenge as a true warrior with a faithful heart, extraordinary perseverance, and an unwavering desire to make the most of each day. She never complained. Kandie attended Monterey Church of Christ for many years and lived out her faith through service. With a compassionate heart, she traveled on four medical mission trips to Africa and participated in multiple mission efforts in Juarez, Mexico with Rhodes to Relief, where teams built homes for families living in poverty. Kandie loved to love and laugh. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room. She was happiest surrounded by family, flowers, and opportunities to make memories. When she was not spending time with her children or grandchildren, you could often find her painting, gardening, quilting, refinishing furniture, or listening to live music. She was an accomplished gardener and a very creative quilter who was passionate about her craft and has left beautiful treasures, hand stitched with love, for her children and grandchildren to cherish for years to come. She was always creating something beautiful with her hands and her joyful spirit. Those left to honor her memory are her mother, Jeanie Bailey, her sister, Tammy (Shane) Allen, her children, Aaron (Laura) Burch, Alisha (Joey) Barker, and Amber (Joey) Yates, and her nine grandchildren, Addison and Cason Harrist, Dominic, John, Cecilia, Nicholas, and Aubrey Burch, and Gladden and Goldie Yates, as well as her longtime special friend, Phil Mullins. Her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren adored her. To her grandkids, she was Mimi, and she truly was the best. She supported them, cheered them on, and made each one feel deeply loved. There was nothing she would not do for them, and she was so proud of the individuals they are becoming. Kandie was greeted in Heaven by her much loved father, Darrell Bailey, and her precious granddaughter, Edith Grace Yates. It was no doubt a beautiful homecoming. A visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Sanders Funeral Home. Memorial services will take place Monday at 1:30 PM at Monterey Church of Christ with Jody Bailey officiating. Kandie will be laid to rest beside her granddaughter, Edith Grace Yates, at Resthaven Memorial Park. In honor of Kandie's colorful personality and her love for flowers, guests are welcome to wear cheerful colors. She would have loved that. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Chloe at Hospice of Lubbock, the Joe Arrington Cancer Center, Heartland House, and the compassionate and skilled doctors and nurses on Faith 7 at Covenant Hospital. The family invites friends to honor Kandie's generous spirit by giving to Monterey Church of Christ's Acts 4 Fund, a ministry based on Acts chapter 4 that shares resources with members experiencing hardship.
