Lester Keith White

Lester Keith White of Lubbock, Texas, passed away in his favorite chair in his home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He is now sitting in the lap of his Lord and Savior and is free from all pain and illness. Keith was born on January 11, 1935, in Higgins, Texas; the second of seven children born to Lester "Pop" and Ercil "Mom" White. Keith graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps being honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He married Louella Ann Green on February 6, 1976, and lived in Lubbock for all their 48 years of marriage. Keith and Lou Ann were faithful members of Trinity Church and were both retired from Lubbock ISD. Keith was an avid golfer, faithful friend, and loving family man. Keith suffered a severe case of encephalitis in the late 1960s that affected his vision, balance, and memory capabilities. Through all the physical and health issues he has faced through the years, Keith's courage, strong faith in the Lord and perseverance have been an example to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lester and Ercil "Pop and Mom" White, his elder brother, Donald Dean White and his sister, Margaret Ann Apperson. Keith is survived by his wife, Lou Ann White of Lubbock; four children, Jeff White and wife Jennifer of Katy, Texas; Shannon White and husband Tom Mulvey of Kyle, Texas; Michael Moore of Slaton, Texas; and Fonda White of Shallowater, Texas. Sisters, Martha McKinney and husband Don of DeQueen Arkansas; Kathy Huffman and husband Walter of Granbury, Texas; Vicki Roberts and husband Monty Joe of Kenton, Oklahoma; and brother Jinks White and wife Vicki of Lubbock, Texas. Nine grandchildren, Tanner White, Anisa Mok, Dean White, Emily, Thunder, and Nichelle Hodgson; Sebastian White, and Lucas and Jamie Smith; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Habakkuk 3:18 states "yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior"; and Proverbs 15:13 says "A happy heart makes a face cheerful". If any words ever described Keith, it is that he was joyful and had a happy heart. Everyone was always greeted with a beautiful smile and a warm hug. He was one of God's great gifts to anyone he met. Now he is receiving the promise and presence of God the Father and his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
