Louis David Snyder: A Life of Courage, Service, and Innovation Louis "David" Snyder, 67, of Lubbock, Texas, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023. Born on December 3, 1955, in Tucumcari, NM, David was the son of the late Charles and Loretta Snyder. David joined the Air Force after high school and proudly served his country in the Air Force Intelligence Division. Following his military service, he married the love of his life, LaDonna Rock. This year, they would have been celebrating 47 years of marriage. David continued his career in public service, joining the Amarillo Police Department, and eventually being appointed Police Chief for Texas State Technical College in Amarillo. During his tenure as Police Chief, David pioneered innovative techniques in laser forensics and evidence collection. He was also an instructor at the SPAG academy, sharing his knowledge with fellow peace officers. In 1999, David received the Ethical Courage Award from The Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute, recognizing his relentless pursuit of justice to dismantle one of the largest embezzlement schemes in Texas history. He completed his distinguished law enforcement career as Chief of Police in Shallowater before retiring in 1997. In his retirement, David and LaDonna founded Premier Media Group, a sign and digital printing company in Lubbock, and later acquired Haden Signs, an electrical sign company, where he continued to make a difference in his community. His legacy and dedication to his community will continue to be demonstrated through the companies he built. David is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna; daughter Michelle Terry and her fiancé, Kent VanBriggle of Frisco, Tx; son Brandon Snyder and his wife, Jennifer Snyder of Lubbock, Tx; four cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Terry, Kyla Snyder, Adalie Snyder, and Ellis Snyder; brother Gary Snyder of Amarillo, Tx and sister Charlotte Stull of Nara Visa, New Mexico; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Loretta Snyder; brother, Robert Snyder; sister, Sharon Bell; and nephew, Arnes Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle in support of law enforcement and first responders. This foundation supports police officers and firefighters killed or injured in the line of duty, in addition they also provide much needed safety gear and equipment to communities in need.
