Rebecca "Becky" Cleveland

Rebecca “Becky” Louise Cleveland slipped peacefully away from us on February 6, 2013 in the arms of her family at her home in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held February 9, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas. Visitation will be on Friday at Sanders Funeral Home at 6:00 PM followed by Rosary at 7:00. Becky was born August 21, 1955 to Travis and Bernice Canada in San Angelo, Texas. She was the youngest child and only daughter so she was always their “baby girl”. When not in her daddy’s lap she could always be found furled in her mother’s dress clutching her leg. As a child she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1973 and moved to Lubbock, Texas to attend Texas Tech. She then enrolled in Draughn’s Business College and earned an Associated Degree in Court Reporting. After graduation Becky worked for the Lubbock County Court System. She loved her work and especially those she worked with: Judge Shaver, Judge Darnell, Judge Puryear and Judge McClendon , fellow court reporters and even a lawyer or two. It was in Lubbock where she met the love of her life David Bruce Cleveland. They were married June 11, 1977. Together, they were the loving parents of Ashley Carney (Cory), Chase Cleveland (Lucy), and Cory Cleveland (Jessica). Besides her children, Becky, also known as Mamalou, is survived by her grandchildren, Jake, Addy, Cash, Courtland, and Bethany; her mother, Bernice Canada; her brothers, Ken Canada (Dianna) and Rick Canada (Jan); and her nieces and nephews, Mandy, Kris, Haley, and Jon. Becky is also survived by her father and mother-in law, Austin and Lynne Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Alice Bien (Larry) and Susan Anduss (Marc); and nephews and nieces, Stephen, Alex, and Sarah. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the wonderful and generous friends and family that have given so much time, food and support to Becky’s family. Becky was preceded in death by her husband, David; her father, Travis; her brother, Gary; and her sister, Mary. Also preceding Becky were her maternal grandparents Kanna and Mary Dreyer and Luther and Edna Canada. Contributions and donations can be given to American Cancer Society and Hospice of Lubbock
