Ricardo Castillo

Ricardo (Ricky) Castillo, 56, of Wolfforth, Texas passed away April 29, 2024. Ricky was born April 3, 1968, in Lubbock, TX to Refujia and Marcus Castillo. He grew up in the Slaton area, where he developed a passion for his family, the Lord, and the outdoors. Ricky lived in the spirit of 1 Thessalonians 4:11 - leading a quiet life and working with his hands. He spent more than three decades as a landscaper, and took great pride in creating and maintaining beautiful lawns and gardens throughout the community. Even after a long day of work outside, he was often found after-hours tending to the yard, plants, and flowers around his own home. He was creative, and enjoyed projects around the house and do-it-yourself home improvement tasks. Though a quiet man, Ricky's love and generosity spoke volumes, and he was known to drop everything to help any person in need. He was humble, hardworking, and had a servant's heart, and he never expected thanks or reward for the many times he helped others - he did it simply because it was the right thing to do. His greatest joy came from caring for and spending time with his loved ones, including his four-legged companions. It is often said that young children and animals are the best judges of character, and Ricky's family would agree, as he had a gentle spirit and kind soul that often left him surrounded by the babies, children, and pets of the family. Simply put, Ricky was "everyone's favorite." Loved ones left to cherish his memory include wife Samantha Castillo of Wolfforth, son Isaac Castillo (Sherry) of Lubbock, daughter Olivia Grace Castillo of Wolfforth, grandchildren Alexis and DJ Herrera and Isaiah Castillo of Lubbock, sister Sylvia Todd (Leeroy) of Slaton, sister Rosalinda Ysasaga (Jimmy) of Slaton, brother Jesus Castillo (Teatra) of Slaton, sister Lisa Castillo of Fort Worth, brother Edward Castillo (Mary) of Slaton, brother Willy Castillo of Slaton, sister Martha Castillo of Lubbock, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Destiny Ann Castillo, and his siblings Andrew, Irene, and Ralph Castillo. A celebration of Ricky's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Sanders Memorial Chapel with Michael Page officiating.
