Rick Pabst

Richard Arthur Pabst, born on November 7, 1960, in Evanston, IL, passed away at the age of 65 on April 18, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. Known by friends as Rick but to family will always be Ricky. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many. Rick worked as an installer in the granite and tile industry, spending years with Chavez Natural Stone & Tile, where he showcased his skill in crafting beautiful countertops and tile work for homes and businesses around Lubbock. His work was a source of pride. Rick had a passion for life that was infectious. He also had a passion for vending machines and popsicles. He loved traveling, whether it was to Las Vegas or Ruidoso, and he cherished his summers spent at Lauderdale Lakes in Elkorn, Wisconsin, playing on the lake with his cousins. Rick loved wrestling and snack time, scheduling the "NO Phone call rule around it". Sundays were reserved for sports, and he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, the Cubs, the Blackhawks, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs and of course Texas Tech. His sister Debbie, whom he convinced to become a Texas Tech fan, shared countless Sunday afternoon phone calls with him, discussing all the latest games and scores. Family meant the world to Rick. His grandchildren, Madison, Logan, and Savannah Albright, were the highlight of his life, and he loved attending their soccer games and celebrating holidays and birthdays together. His daily phone calls with his daughter, Whitney, were always a highlight, and he took immense pride in his son, Dylan, celebrating the man he had become and the close bond they shared over the years. Vicki and Ricky were quite the team. Very close from the very beginning after all they shared a womb. Kurt and Rick had a very special bond, they would put their heads together and modify all kinds of things to try and make Rick's life easier. They always found time to work on the truck together,which was something Rick really enjoyed. Rick would wait with anticipation to see what Christmas gag gift Kelsei would get him every year. He would show it off to everyone who came to see him. Rick, appreciated Allen, his most loyal friend, whom never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Rick had a reputation as a generous and caring friend. He was loved by many and was known for always bringing treats like donuts or tacos to share with his friends, especially during his time at dialysis, where he built strong relationships with everyone. He had a charming personality and a flirty sense of humor that brought smiles wherever he went. His home healthcare nurses shared a bond that Rick held dear to his heart and his stomach because they never came empty handed. His best friend, his dog Rio, Rick often joked, "I don't live alone, I live with Rio," and they shared an unbreakable bond. As the only boy among five sisters, Rick embraced his role in the family, proud of the "Pabst six pack" he helped create. He never let anyone forget that he was 21 minutes older than his twin sister and would often tease her about it, saying, "I got the looks and brains; she got the hair." He often reminisced about the joy in his father's face when he learned he had a boy after being surrounded by girls, expressing his pride in being the family's lone brother. Rick will be missed deeply by his loving family, including his sisters Debbie Pabst, Vicki Yow, brother-in-law Kurt Yow, and Cheryl Pabst, his children, Dylan Pabst and Whitney Albright, son-in-law Matt Albright, and his precious grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews who adored him. Rick Pabst led a full and vibrant life centered around family, friends, and laughter, and though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
