Robert L. Jackson

Robert Lawrence (R.L.) Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025 at the age of 87. Born in Chattanooga, TN, R.L. moved to Lubbock, TX in 1962 where he spent most of his life. A devoted and active member of Rock City Church for over 60 years, he was known for his unwavering faith and deep commitment to his church and family. R.L. also had a passion for guiding young people and served as a leader for several Boy Scout troops, instilling in them the values of loyalty, responsibility, and kindness. R.L. was a proud veteran, having joined the Air Force immediately after high school. Stationed in Sweetwater, TX, he met and married his beloved wife, Betty Roberts Jackson, with whom he shared a life full of love and faith. An avid outdoorsman, R.L. found peace and joy in the mountains, enjoying countless camping and hiking trips with his family and friends. His love for nature was matched only by his love for God and his family who were the center of his world. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jackson; daughters Robbie Wagner (Alan), Lisa Huffman (Mike), Amy Jackson, and son Greg Jackson; grandchildren Kristen, Ty, Preslie, and Angelica; and one great-grandson, Rhys. R.L. is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lula Jackson and his sister, Ruth Posey. He was a treasured father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy of love, faith and service will endure for generations to come. R.L.'s life was a testament to his strong will, his commitment to his faith, and his devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed, but always remembered for the impact he made on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Friends and family are invited to a viewing to be held at Rock City Church, 5833-4th Street, Lubbock, TX 79416 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025. R.L.'s Celebration of Life memorial will be held at Rock City Church in Lubbock, TX on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. followed by the committal service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, 15602 Texas 493 Loop, Lubbock, TX 79423.
