R.W. Webb

Robert Wesley Webb, Jr., 76, of Lubbock was born in Corsicana, Texas to Robert and Elsie Webb on January 29, 1935. R. W. knew ball. He played football and basketball as a New Deal Lion in the class of 1953. He was a true fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He got a kick out of being known as Mr. New Deal and FFA Lonestar Farmer! R. W. worked hard. He spent 32 years carrying the U. S. mail, 8 years in the prison ministry, 10 years picking up folks for the adult daycare center, and attempted a little farming along the way. R. W. loved big. He cherished many sweet memories with his girl Sarah Stone enjoying the Cactus Theatre, the grandsons’ ball games, and trips to a little cabin in Colorado. He loved people fully and they knew it. He made us laugh. He taught us to roll with the punches. He was a buzzard bait with the biggest smile! R. W. shaped us-he lived his life with a fierce purpose to glorify his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He graduated from Dallas Bible College with a degree in Greek and Hebrew. Dad loved teaching the word of God at South Plains Bible Chapel and Center Community Church. He made such a difference in many lives. We will miss you Dad. R. W. leaves behind a daughter, Debbie Webb of Amarillo; son, Dusty Webb and wife Tess of Lubbock; two grandsons, Ben and Jake Webb; special friend, Sarah Stone; and many friends and relatives. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at the City of Lubbock Cemetery with Pastor George Carkeet officiating. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the South Plains Bible Chapel with Tim Lambert and Ed Meschkat officiating. The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
