A celebration of the life of Susan Rodriguez, 58, of Lubbock, Texas will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park with Ben Waters officiating. Susan passed away May 6, 2021. Susan was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 9, 1962 to Frank Allen, Jr. and Phylis Allen, but grew up in Texas where she stayed a diehard Texan in her spirit. She was born on the same day as her sister. She grew up the child of deaf parents where she learned to use sign language. During her early years you could find her in a mechanic's body shop working with her father, learning the trade, fixing and restoring engines. In 1981 she graduated from Lubbock High School. In her 20s she moved to New Jersey where she worked for a yacht company and this is where she met her husband Rodolfo. Once they got married they moved and had three children together, Mary, Diana, and Rudy. During her adult life, life was bumpy and had many trials and troubles, however, she was able to stay strong and be the glue for her kids and family. To her family was everything. She taught her children how to be respectful, polite, and to stay humble. She had a strong faith in God and tried to instill this in her family as well. Later in life she went on to work for LISD at both Smilie Wilson and Coronado as an assistant deaf interpreter. She then went on to work for Sorensen to be a relay interpreter to help interpret for the deaf. She would speak for them when they were not able to speak for themselves. She met so many people in her life and she had a gift of bringing everyone together. She was kind, respectful, loving, and compassionate. She truly was a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed. Loved ones include spouse Rodolfo Rodriguez; daughter Diana Rodriguez; daughter Mary Barrera; son Rudy Rodriguez, and 3 grandchildren Logan, Nicholas, and Nathaniel. Preceded in death by Frank Allen, Jr. (Father), Phyllis Allen (Mother).
