Ben Cook

William Benton Cook, age 44, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. Ben was born in Lubbock, TX at Methodist Hospital on Mother's Day, May 13, 1979, to loving parents Eugene & Margaret Cook. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1997 & went on to attend Howard College in Big Spring, TX on a rodeo scholarship. Ben had a love and passion for bull riding, learning to ride from his father at the age of 14 years old. He was a member of the HPJRA, TCFR, & PCRA associations all through high school and well into his adult life. He continued to perfect his craft and skills until 2004. Ben and his dog Nugget traveled across the country to various rodeos, many of which he won. He passed along his love and knowledge of the sport to several children teaching them how to ride bulls any chance he got. Anyone that knew Ben knew he was a jokester and loved playing tricks on family and friends. He loved to laugh and always had a smile on his face showing off those dimples. He would light up any room and live life to the fullest. He had a knack for making friends easily and making all friends feel like they were his best friend. Ben was also a dare devil and loved the thrill of an adrenaline rush. He spent time at the lake with friends, wakeboarding, and entered many contests earning the nickname "Badger." Ben loved to play golf and often times you could find him swinging his clubs whether at the course or in the living room. He was also stubborn, always right, and would not back down from a fight or challenge. Ben attended First Baptist Church Roosevelt with his parents, fiancé, and his sons. He installed cable for various companies through contract work and was employed by Excel at the time of his passing. He and his father, Eugene, started C & C Bucking Bulls partnering with PeeWee Cazarez hosting various buck outs for the next generation of bull riders to learn and practice. Stetson, Zaylor, and Swayze were his entire world. His sons gave him strength through the rough times and laughter and joy all the time. He was so proud of his children, "Pinky Swear," and considered himself extremely lucky to be their dad. His family and friends will hold dear the many stories and be privileged to tell them of their funny & loving father. Fiancé, Kallie Rogers, was the love of his life. They were beginning to plan their future and looked forward to spending the rest of their lives together. Ben is survived by his three children, Stetson, Zaylor, & Swayze Cook; fiancé Kallie Rogers; his parents, Eugene and Margaret Cook who raised him with unconditional faith, love, and support; his sister and brother-in-law, Leah & Chris Corona; his brother and brother-in-law, Daniel Cook & Jeremy O'Brien; nephew Dakota & Alexis Hart; niece Jordan Hart; Pepper; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, & close friends whose memories, adventures, inside jokes, and nicknames will hold special places in their hearts. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Curley & Ruby Cook; Johnnie & Jean Haden; and many other loved ones who were waiting on him at the Door to Heaven. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2024, at Sanders Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jack Thompson officiating.
