Esteban Martinez, Jr.

September 25, 1938 - April 21, 2022

Esteban (Steve) Martinez, Jr., 83, of Lubbock, Texas passed away April 21, 2022. Steve was born September 25, 1938, to Esteban Martinez, Sr. and Sarah Huckabay of Fort Stockton, Tx. Steve joined the United States Army in 1956 graduating basic training at Fort Ord, California. Steve spent majority of his military service overseas in West Berlin, Germany earning the overseas ribbon, good conduct medal, and occupation service medal. He also received his Expert Infantry Badge and Expert Machine Gunner's Badge. After Being Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1959, Steve started his life's journey marrying his life-long partner Rosalyn Martinez in April of 1967. Steve proceeded to answer the calling to preach the gospel and became a minister/missionary of our God, Lord Jesus Christ. Some of Steve's life adventures included cabinet making, volunteering as a firefighter/EMT and fishing. Steve also was a distinguished Bus Driver for Lubbock Independent School District and later a Chartered Bus Driver, traveling up and down the highways of the United States. Steve finally hung up his charter bus keys and became a full-time grandfather and great-grandfather. Although he was a man of many hats, his most cherished job was that of being the patriarch of the family. Steve is survived by his spouse Rosalyn Martinez of 56 wonderful years; son Marco Martinez (Melinda) of Floydada, TX; daughter Cecilia Ramirez (Jessie Ray) of Lubbock, TX 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Cruz, Franchesca Martinez, Michael Melendez, Kimberly Martinez, Marco Martinez Jr, Joshua Martinez, Erin Gonzalez, Eric Gonzalez, Eli Gonzalez-Martinez and 7 great-grandchildren, Josiah Servin, Lindzy Hughes, Alyssa Hughes, Izabella Aguirre, Izayah Martinez, Giovanni Melendez and last but not least Alexei Chandler, and his only beloved brother Nick Martinez. Preceded in death by Esteban Martinez, Sr. (Father), Sarah Huckabay (Mother) A celebration of his life will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in Sanders Funeral Home with Tommy Murillo officiating.
