Guillermo Vasquez Acosta, Jr.

February 3, 1957 - February 11, 2022

While surrounded by his family, Guillermo "Willie" Vasquez Acosta, 65, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022. Willie was born on February 3, 1957, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Guillermo and Gertrude "Gertie" Acosta. He grew up in Lubbock before joining the United States Army on October 11, 1974. He was Honorably Discharged from the Military on December 19, 1977. Willie married the love of his life, Belia Bursiaga on April 14, 1978. They would have celebrated their 44th Anniversary in April. Willie loved his dogs and raised and bred Siberian Huskies for many years. He loved to work on automobiles and was always working to maintain his 1967 Ford Mustang that he and his sons restored. He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for several Road Construction Companies in West Texas. Willie will be dearly missed and always remembered. He is survived by his wife, Belia Acosta, and three sons, Juan Hector Leon, Guillermo Enrique, and Nicholas Daniel, all of Lubbock. He also had one grandson, Josiah Angel Acosta, who was his pride and joy as he recently entered the United States Marine Corps. Willie is also survived by two sisters, Henrietta Spellings of San Antonio, Maria Acosta of Lubbock, and two brothers, Gil Acosta of Lubbock and John Buckmister of Roswell. He will be missed by his loving dogs: Timmy Two-Tone, Lola, and Kali. Willie was preceded in death by his father Guillermo Acosta, mother Gertrude Acosta, sister Catherine "Katie" Hamilton, and brother Enrique Valentine "Henry" Acosta. Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Home Wednesday, February 16, 2022, 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM in Sanders Memorial Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Deacon Michael Kenny officiating.
