A celebration of the life of Jim Cole, 69 of Shallowater, Texas will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 9, 2020 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Brother Keith Garner, First Baptist Church of Post, officiating. Graveside services will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Viewing will be come and go from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Sanders Funeral Home. A webcast of services will be available, as well as our online guest book. Jim passed away October 1, 2020. He was born April 25,1951 in Lubbock, Texas to Carroll and Evelyn Cole. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1969. Jim married Sonja Wootonn on May 2, 1975. He retired from DeKalb in 1999, where he worked as sorghum Research Technician for over 24 years. After retiring, he stayed home to watch his oldest grandson before joining Helena Chemical as a driver until he officially retired in 2019. Jim loved his wife dearly and spoke of her often, sharing memories with us. He loved his grandkids and spending time with them, rarely missing their events. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America- South Plains Council. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, gardening, cooking, and watching the weather. He also enjoyed spending time with family, playing Sudoku, and watching You Tube videos. He loved attending and being a part of the First Baptist Church of Post family. Loved ones include daughter, Jennifer Cole of Onalaska, WI; daughter, Stacy Wenzel and husband, Jeremy of Shallowater, TX; son Michael Cole and wife, Kristie of Post, TX; brother, Danny and wife, Annette of Shallowater, TX; sister, Pam Cole of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Kay Cole of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Austin and fiancé Linzi and Houston Wenzel, Maxximus and Owynn Cole; great-granddaughter, Maisyn Wenzel; mother-in-law, Katherine Lusk and husband, Newman of Shallowater, TX; aunts, Faye Burrow and Zoe Koinzan; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, his wife, Sonja and brother, Morris Cole. Memorials are suggested to Boy Scouts of America-South Plains Council or First Baptist Church of Post, TX.
