Johnny Ybarra Hernandez

September 26, 1966 - December 19, 2021

Johnny Ybarra Hernandez, 55, of Lubbock, Texas passed away December 19, 2021. Johnny was born September 26, 1966 in Lubbock, TX to Placido Hernandez and Josephine Hernandez. Anyone who knew Johnny would know he enjoyed living life. He was a very shy man but yet made you feel so welcomed. He had a big heart and was always very giving. He was always kind to anyone that he came across with. He enjoyed music, loved barbequing for just about any reason at all but especially for holidays and birthdays. He enjoyed going to concerts and attending a Dallas football game with his nephew and friends at least once a year. He liked to play the Lotto scratch off games and enjoyed hanging out with his closest neighbors down the street from his mom's house that he lived by for so many years growing up. His laugh alone would make you laugh right along with him and he also had a love for cats. But his love for his family especially his mom is what he treasured the most along with his faith in God. Johnny graduated Lubbock High in 1986 and then attended South Plains College where he was seeking a degree in nursing. He worked at Covenant Medical Center for 35 years as a Supervisor in the Environment Services Department where he had recently retired in September 2021. He was also employed at Dillard's for 22 years. Loved ones include mother Josephine Hernandez; brother Carlos Hernandez; brother Robert Hernandez; sister Delia Hernandez; nephew Jr. Rodriguez; nephew Robert Matthew Hernandez; great nephew Giovanni Hernandez, sister-in-law Dorsha Miranda, sister-in-law Sandra Hernandez, brother-in-law Robert Garcia Preceded in death by Placido Hernandez (Father) Tony Hernandez (Brother) Jose & Josefa Ybarra (Grandparents) Pasqual & Martha Hernandez (Grandparents), Teresa Hernandez (Sister-In-Law). Family viewing will be at Sanders Funeral Home Thursday, December 30, 2021, 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Sanders Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Jose Kochuparambil officiating.
