Matthew Ryan Cook

August 5, 1988 - November 28, 2021

They say the greatest measure of a man is the lasting impact you leave behind on this Earth. Cookie certainly left his mark with us all. Matthew Ryan "Cookie" Cook was born on August 5, 1988 and passed away on November 28, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Ryan Cook, and grandparents, Dominic and Isabel Romano and Bobby and Patricia Cook. He is survived by his mother, Angela Romano, brother, Andrew Cook, along with his sister in law, Amy, and nephew, Jace Cook. Matthew had a contagious spirit for hunting, fishing, cooking and serving others. Nothing brought him more joy than being around family and friends and enjoying life, the true spirit of Cookie. While Cookie's passing leaves an irreplaceable hole in our hearts, the best way to honor him is simple; be kind, serve others, and live life to the fullest each and every day. Cookie may have grown up in Southeast Texas, but the South Plains of Lubbock were his home. A heartfelt thank you to all of you who crossed paths and became friends with Cookie over the last 15 years in Lubbock. He was truly one of a kind and will not soon be forgotten. The stories and his impact on all of our lives are immeasurable. He never met a stranger, and everyone loved him; that's just who Cookie was. He was a devoted son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, and Texas Tech Red Raider. All of us are fortunate to have been touched by Cookie in our lifetime. One of the best ways to encapsulate the true spirit of Matthew is in this quote - "Live your life in a way, so that when you die, everyone will call you a friend." We are extremely grateful to Theresa and Tom Foster (Godparents), Coach Al Rabb and Milt Prewitt for their wisdom, spiritual guidance, and unconditional love. Thank you for always being there when Matthew needed you the most. Matthew had a very special circle of friends - Dylan Tartar, Brad Bostick, Evan Botsford, Nathan Ellison, and JP Phelan. These men stood by Matthew and did everything they could to help Matthew achieve his best life. Matthew was so blessed to be loved and protected by these men. Thank you to all who donated to the Gofundme - you made life less stressful knowing he didn't have to worry about paying his doctor bills. Your generosity overwhelmed our family. We would like to thank the neuro-oncologists who kept Matthew's quality of life as long as possible - We will be forever grateful to Dr. Conrad, Dr. Fink and Dr. Mella. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help find the cure for brain cancer. Baylor Neuro-Oncology Foundation. C/O Karen Fink MD ,PhD. 3600 Gaston Avenue, Suite 100. Dallas, TX. 75246 Visitation for Matthew will be Sunday December 5, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sanders Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be Monday December 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Deacon Richard McCann officiating.
