Sharon Fortenberry
May 11, 1958 - March 15, 2022
Sharon Fortenberry passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023. Sharon was born on May 11, 1958 in Alamogordo, NM the daughter of Henry Daniel and Beverly Carlson. She is survived by two sons Cory and Brandon Fortenberry, her brother James Daniel, Daughter-in-law Heather, granddaughter Lily (Oopsy as she called her) and her two dachshunds Charlie and Stella. Sharon was the kind of person that people fell instantly in love with due to her love of laughter and the ability to talk to anyone. She lived her life with a child-like view on everything, never overly complicated in her perspective and viewed ice cream as a complete meal. Sharon worked at the post office for over 25 years. Her grandfather and father, both preceding her in death, also worked at the post office, and she was proud to follow in their footsteps, although she didn't take it quite as seriously as they did. One of her favorite stories to tell was about when she worked the night shift keying in zip codes as letters would whiz by her. When she would doze off at the keyboard somehow her hand kept working and everyone's mail would get routed to an Amarillo zip code that she had ingrained in her memory for some reason. Sharon will be missed by her friends at Lubbock Hospitality, as well as her family and friends all around. Services will be held at a later time to be determined. If you would like to honor Sharon's memory, please consider donating to the Dusty Puddles Dachshund Rescue who helped place her sweet Charlie and Stella in a loving home with Amy when she could no longer care for them. https://www.dustypuddles.org/
