Sylvia A. Hernandez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sylvia Arteaga Hernandez, a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, teacher, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on August 21, 2021. She was born to the late Silberia Luebano and Rodolfo Rocha Arteaga, July 7, 1962, in Crosbyton, Texas. She married Luis Carlos Hernandez on April 8, 1989. She attended Saint Edward's University, and graduated from Wayland Baptist University with her Master's Degree in Education. Sylvia dedicated herself to her daughter, her nieces and nephews, and all of her students whom she loved. She has impacted many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sylvia is survived by her only daughter Valeria Hernandez Vega, her sister Irene Martinez, brother Donato Arteaga, sister-in-law Leia Arteaga, nephew Favio Martinez, niece Serenity Arteaga, nephew Jace Arteaga and many friends, co-workers, cousins and extended family. Her family will forever miss her smile, sense of humor, and unconditional love. A celebration of her life will be offered on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Sanders Memorial Chapel with Manuel Lopez officiating. A live webcast of the service will also be offered on this tribute page. Additionally, we will be holding a joint visitation and rosary service on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 3:00 pm for both Sylvia and Luis Carlos Hernandez. We would love to see everyone there, but we will understand if you can't be in attendance.
