It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alfredo G. Sampayo Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on June 2, 1939, in Monterrey, NLE, Mexico, Alfredo moved to the United States at the young age of 13, embarking on a journey that would lead him to become a proud U.S. citizen. He spent his formative years in Donna, Texas, before relocating to Lubbock in the mid-1950s, where he made a lasting impact on his community. Alfredo served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1959, a testament to his dedication to his country. He married the love of his life, Eluvinia Tijerina, on August 26, 1963. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love, laughter, and the joyous chaos of a large family. Alfredo's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Eluvinia, his children Armidia Skotnicki (Mark), Angie Zampayo (Manuel), Elubinia Perez (Robert), Brenda Sampayo (Valentín), and Alfredo Sampayo III (Kianna), as well as his fifteen cherished grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Known for his skilled craftsmanship as a carpenter, Alfredo poured his heart into his work and took great pride in the beauty he created within the construction industry. His hands were never idle, and the homes and spaces he built stand as a testament to his diligence and passion. As we remember Alfredo, we invite family and friends to join us in honoring his life. A viewing will take place at Sanders Funeral Home on July 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM, allowing loved ones to come together to reflect on cherished memories. The visitation will continue on July 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM in Sanders Memorial Chapel. The funeral services will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church on July 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM, a place where Alfredo found solace and spiritual connection throughout his life. Following the service, Alfredo will be laid to rest at the burial site located at 15602 TX-493 Loop, Lubbock, TX 79423. In this time of mourning, we celebrate the remarkable man that Alfredo was-a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. He will be dearly missed but will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace. Pallbearers will be Manuel Placencia, Jr., Mark Skotnicki, Dominic Perez, Chris Perez, Isaac Sampayo, Alfredo Sampayo IV, Alfredo Sampayo, Jayden Sampayo. Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Angelina Sampayo.
