Carla Michelle Johnson

Carla Michelle Johnson, born on March 10, 1962, in Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 64. A cherished mother, sister, and friend, Carla's legacy of kindness and compassion will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew her. Carla was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1980. Fueled by a passion for helping others, she pursued her career as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Lakeside Nursing Home. For over sixteen years, she dedicated herself to her patients at The Plaza Skilled Nursing, embodying the true spirit of caregiving. Her warm smile and unwavering support brought comfort to many during their most challenging times. In 1998, Carla married the love of her life, Barry Dewayne Johnson, Sr., forming a bond that reflected her deep commitment to family and faith. A devoted member of Southside Church of Christ, she found strength in her Christian faith and was a source of encouragement and support for her loved ones, visiting family and friends during their times of struggle. Carla had an innate ability to find joy in life, even amidst her own ups and downs. She particularly cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, whose laughter filled her heart with boundless happiness. Her legacy will live on through her children: son Dj Walker, daughter LaQuinta Reed, and sons Thomas Walker and Kaman Walker, as well as her siblings: brothers Renny Davis and Winston Walker, and sisters LaTonya Ford, Cheri Moore, Yolanda Walker, and Camia Walker. In celebration of Carla's life, her family will hold a visitation from 6:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Sanders Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:30 am at Southside Church of Christ. After the service, Carla will be cremated with care, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. As we remember Carla Michelle Johnson, let us honor her spirit of compassion, resilience, and love, cherishing the beautiful moments she shared with us all. Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Johnson, Sr., parents, Perry Edwards and Luella Davis; daughter, Francis Reed.
