Carol Angela Fritz It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Carol Angela Fritz, age 79 who passed away on January 17, 2024, and was a beloved member of the Lubbock farming community. Carol was born on April 1, 1944, in Lubbock, to William and Bertha Fritz. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 1968 from Texas Tech University. Carol's love of golf led her to a career in the sport, where she worked at a country club in Austin, TX, rubbing shoulders with some of the most legendary names in the game. After moving back to Lubbock, Carol continued to perfect her golf game and worked with her family raising cotton. Her love of arts and crafts was evident in her creative skillset which she honed through classes in photography, jewelry making, painting, and mosaics. However, her heart truly belonged to the animals, and any dog or cat who wandered up received a new home filled with food and love. She enjoyed delving into the details of her family ancestry, tracing the roots of her heritage all the way back to Europe. She was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and took delight in that her niece Susan Fritz Savkov followed in her footsteps. Spending time with her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews as they grew up was a source of happiness for her. Those who knew her remembered her kind and loving soul. Her living loved ones include brother Kenneth Fritz, niece Susan Savkov and husband Andrei; niece Allison Fritz and husband Jason Halladay, nephew Chris Fritz and wife Sheila, their children Calvin and Michaela, nephew Matt Fritz, sister-in-law, Jan Fritz, sister-in-law, Karen Fritz, niece Jenifer Stratton, daughter Ava Mlekush and her husband Brian, niece Laura Holland and husband Cory, their children Davie and Ford, and niece Amanda Fritz, aunt Margaret McWilliams, cousins Connie Jones, Cindy Walthall, and Gary McWilliams, cousins Melynie Greaser and Mellisa Talley, cousins Marian Blake, Douglas Melcher, Calvin Melcher, Leonard Melcher, Harold Melcher, Joan Blackmon, Sandra Sanders, Patricia Farmer, and Brenda Melcher, cousin Gary Ray Rogers, cousins Helen Geick, Kara Nevin, and Alexis Anderson. Carol is preceded in death by her parents William and Bertha Fritz, her brothers Don and David Fritz, uncles Robert, Edgar, Leopold and Lawrence Melcher, uncle Gilbert Fritz, aunt Gertrude Rogers, uncle D.G. McWilliams and other dear family members. A service will be held in the future to honor her memory.
