Charles Edward Colbert

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Edward Colbert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Charles was born on July 15, 1951, in Quanah, Texas, and departed this life on August 6, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, where he spent many cherished years. Charles was known for his warmth and generosity; he never knew a stranger. He loved people fiercely and was deeply thoughtful and caring. With every interaction, he made genuine connections and was intentional with his time, always adoring the moments spent with his cherished family members. His family fondly remembers their camping trips to Abilene State Park, a favorite activity that brought them closer together. Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as a good cup of coffee and moments of relaxation. An accomplished individual, Charles pursued his education at Navarro College and Clarendon College before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from West Texas State University. His professional career as a manager spanned several years with Bucks Engine Company and United Engines, where he was appreciated not only for his intelligence but also for his capability to build meaningful relationships with colleagues. Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Colbert, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 56 years, having wed on October 10, 1969. His legacy continues through his loving daughter, Stephanie Colbert (Jacob Gutierrez), and his treasured grandchildren, Scarlet, Charlotte, and Londyn Gutierrez. Charles is also survived by his brothers, Earl Colbert (Reda Colbert), David Colbert (Peggy Colbert), and his sister, Shirley Ferguson. Charles leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Colbert, his father, Charles Colbert, his mother, Annabelle Colbert, and his brother, Jessie Dickerson. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6923 Indiana Ave, PO Box #403, Lubbock, TX 79413, or your favorite charity. The family invites all who knew and loved Charles to join them in honoring his life. A visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on August 12, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A graveside service will take place at the City of Lubbock Cemetery on August 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM. In these gatherings, we will celebrate the profound impact Charles had on our lives and take comfort in the love and memories that will forever bind us to him. Charles Edward Colbert will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
