Gilbert Morado

Gilberto "Beto" Morado, born January 3, 1940, went to be with his King and Savior on June 14th, 2023. Born in Robstown, TX to Rita Longoria Morado and Juan Morado, he was born the fourth of eight children. Gilbert married the love of his life, Margarita Ortiz, on March 8, 1964, and shared two children who were the lights of their lives. He was a man of a many skills and talents from welding, grounds keeping to building things with anything he could get his hands on. Gilbert was a great craftsman and loved to work with his hand. With only a 3rd grade education, he opened his own business (Gilbert's Tire Service) in 1988. The business operated until 2002 and was a successful business. Gilbert was a God fearing, hardworking and strong man. He would work from sunup to well over sundown and would do anything he could to always make sure his family had what they wanted and needed. He instilled those values in his family. Gilbert was kind, forgiving and loving and he loved to tell stories about his childhood, travels, friends, and former coworkers. He was a jokester and loved to laugh. As a child, Gilbert traveled all over the US with his migrant working parents. He was always talking about the different places he'd seen such as Colorado, Nebraska, and Ohio to name a few, and had recently mentioned wanting to move to Colorado. He was joking, of course! He did say he loved the mountains. Gilbert also loved his coffee, pastries and playing his guitar. He is survived by his wife Margarita Morado, son Samuel Morado, daughter Esther Saldivar (Mark), three grandsons; Anthony, Isaac Morado and Stephen Saldivar, one granddaughter Cori Saldivar (all from Lubbock), brothers: Jesus Morado (Escalon, CA) Candido Morado (Laredo, TX), sisters: Ida Perez (Lubbock, TX), Yolanda Cruse (Virginia Beach), Dora Morado (Escalon, CA) and Carmen Sanchez (Lubbock, Tx). Preceded in death by his parents, Rita & Juan Morado, and sister, Eliza Serna. Gilbert was loved by all who knew him and will be missed very much. Visitation will be 7:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 23, 2023 at Aldersgate Church followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens. A note from the family- Pepa, You were the glue that held this family together, but we will continue your legacy of hard work, kindness, and forgiveness. We will continue to pass on the values you instilled in us for generations to come. We love you and miss you very much, but we are certain that you are resting well with your King!
