H. G. Wallace Jr.

Services for H.G. Wallace, Jr., 94, of Lubbock will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bobby Dagnel officiating. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, TX. Mr. Wallace went to be with his Savior and was reunited with his wife of seventy-five years on October 7, 2016. H.G. was born December 27, 1921 in Eola, TX to Hiram Gideon and Mary Eva Wallace. He graduated from Eola High School in 1939. He married Raedell Celeste Wills in July of 1939 in San Angelo, TX. H.G. served in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant during World War II. After his military service he went to work for H.O. Wooten Grocery Company in San Angelo, then in 1960 he moved to Lubbock and was employed with Kimbell Grocery Co, retiring in 1991. He was then a partner with a Food Brokerage , Hawkins, Cline and Wallace. H.G. was a longtime member of First Baptist Church-Lubbock, the Timothy Sunday School Class. Also, he was a longtime and active member of the Lubbock Kiwanis Club; he was a 32nd Degree Mason , a Shriner and a member of the York Rite. H.G. was an avid Red Raider Fan and member of the Red Raider Club for many years. His wife of seventy five years passed away on August 5, 2014. Also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Joe Wallace. Loved ones include his children, Shirley Ann Watkins and husband, Ken, San Angelo, TX; Marilyn Kay Hamner and husband, Hank, Lubbock, TX; brother, Jackie Earl Wallace and wife, Marie, California; grandchildren, Wallace Wayne Watkins, Susan Kay Webb and husband, Brian, Jonathan Chris Crosson and wife, Jacque; six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Wilshire on 4th, Direct Home Health and Hospice. Memorials are suggested to Diabetes Association or the Alzheimers Association. H.G. was a kind and loving man, always willing to lend a helping hand; he demonstrated his Christian Faith in all aspects of his life; H.G. loved, cared for and provided for all of his family. He loved all sporting events especially his Red Raiders.
