It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Odell Farris, who departed this life on July 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 4, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, Jimmy lived a life deeply woven into the fabric of his family and community. Jimmy's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his craft as a baker. He built a successful career at Ms. Baird's Bakery, where his commitment to quality and creativity brought joy to countless customers. His passion for baking was matched only by his zeal for education graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Texas Tech University; and later also received an Associate's Degree in the Science of Baking in 1982. A proud resident of Lubbock, Texas, Jimmy was an avid supporter of Texas Tech sports, never missing a game on television. His dry sense of humor and penchant for storytelling made him a beloved figure to his family and friends. Jimmy is survived by his son, Paul Farris, his daughter, Tammey Johnson (Joy Johnson), and his step-son, Jeffery Wilson. His grandchildren knew him as a loving, affectionate presence, always ready to share a life lesson or a nugget of advice. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Odell Farris; and his mother Mattie Farris. In his leisure, Jimmy enjoyed delving into the pages of a good book and engaging in strategic battles in the video game "Conflict." Above all, he emphasized the importance of forgiveness, acceptance, and the unconditional support of loved ones-values that he instilled in those around him. Jimmy's legacy will be celebrated during the solemn ceremonies that have been arranged to honor his life and contributions. Family and friends will gather for a Visitation at Sanders Funeral Home on July 24, 2026, from 5:00-6:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on July 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM in Sanders Memorial Chapel, where memories will be shared, and his indelible spirit will be remembered. A graveside service will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park on July 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, where he will be laid to rest, surrounded by the love of those he cherished throughout his life. In this time of mourning, we find comfort in celebrating Jimmy Odell Farris-a man of integrity, humor, and unfaltering love. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
