Linda Lee Gilliland

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Lee Gilliland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who departed this world on July 29, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on January 11, 1943, in Waurika, Ok. Linda's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Linda was a dedicated homemaker, embodying the essence of nurturing and caregiving that defined her life. Her children, James Gilliland, IV, Julia Morton, Jean Ann Gilliland, and Jennifer Donk will forever remember her as a loving and supportive mother, whose laughter and love left an indelible mark on their lives. Linda took immense joy in her role as a grandmother, and great-grandmother creating cherished memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren that will be treasured for generations. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, James Gilliland, III, her mother, Ila Mae Brewer, her twin sister Glinda Wallace and her grandson David Burns. She is survived by her 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Linda graduated Permian HS in 1961 and later married James on July 21, 1962 they were married 62 yrs until Jim's passing in June 25'. An artist at heart, Linda had a remarkable talent for beautifying spaces, bringing creativity and inspiration to her home and the homes of those she loved. She possessed a unique knack for decorating, making hair bows for her grandchildren, her sisters shoe store, and painting. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas where she showed off her Christmas tree filled with ornaments from around the world from her travels with her husband. Linda found solace and joy in the simplicity of life, often relishing annual trips to the beach and spending moments on her porch swing with her grandchildren and talking to her sister every night. Linda shared an especially close bond with her twin sister, a connection that served as a testament to the strength of family ties that she always nurtured. Family meant the world to her, and her devotion was evident in all that she did. A memorial service will be held August 7th, 11am at the Connection Christian Church, 4221 Tanglewood, Odessa, TX to celebrate her life and spirit.
