Lorraine Claire Brown

Lorraine Claire Brown "Lori", of Shallowater, Texas made her journey home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was born on December 25, 1957, to Albert Kenneth and Irene (Halsted) House in Goshen, New York. She grew up in Chester, New York. In her late teens, she moved to Greene, New York. During this time, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Dennis Brown "DB". They had their first child, Lisa, in 1974. In the late 1970's they moved to Texas and had their sons, Daniel (1979) and Michael (1987). She worked as an office manager/bookkeeper for her brother-in-law's roofing company, until 1989 when DB started his own business, D-B Roofing, and she became his office manager. She went back to college at the age of 35 and graduated with an Associate Decree in early childhood development. She worked for Childcare Management Services for several years until she returned to the family company. Her greatest title in life came when she became Nana to her two granddaughters, Lexi and Shae, and two grandsons, Nicolas and Dylan. She was a woman who knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. You could rarely find her without a fresh cup of coffee in one hand and cigarette in the other, usually on the front porch sharing the best stories. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Her contagious laughter and unfiltered advice are the memories her loved ones will cherish forever. Despite the challenges of her illness, she never lost her trademark strength or her capacity to love deeply. She approached her battle with cancer and COPD with unmatched courage, facing every hurdle with grace and a joyful spirit. She taught her family to love unconditionally, how to be fierce in the face of adversity and how to find joy through Jesus in the journey of life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; her brother, Bill; her granddaughter, Shae (Shady); and her great-grandson, Adian. Lori is survived by her daughter, Lisa Harden and husband Rusty; her son Daniel and wife Jessica; Michael and wife Jennifer; her grandchildren Lexi, Nick and Dylan; her brothers Kenneth "Bud" and Terry House (Sharon); and many other relatives and friends. The world is quieter and our hearts are heavier without her raw honesty, fierce protection, and deep love. Lori will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on July 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at The Message Church Lubbock, 5502 Auburn, Lubbock, TX 79416. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Message Church children's ministries.
