Manuel Carrillo

Manuel “Manny” Carrillo passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at the age of 55 after a long and courageous battle against COVID-19. When Manny found out he had COVID-19, he sought every reasonable means of treatment to restore health and maintain a good quality of life. When it became clear that this was not feasible, Manny alongside Family thanked the Baylor Scott and White medical team and moved on to enable him to have a brief window of time prior to riding off on his motorcycle in to the sunset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Manny at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in Amarillo. A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Sanders Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Loved ones include spouse Stephanie C. Carrillo; father Andres Carrillo; mother Irene Carrillo; daughter Krischel Marquez and son-in-law Geoffrey Marquez; son Manuel Carrillo, Jr. and daughter-in-law Jessica Carrillo; son Joshua Carrillo; daughter Alicia Carrillo; brothers, Andres Carrillo, Jr., Oscar Carrillo, and Jaime Carrillo; sisters, Olivia Pritchet, Llolanda Rodriguez and Adelaida Davis; grandchildren, Davian, Braylen, Addison, Emmalyn, Jade, and Azuliah; and loving nieces and nephews. Manuel “Manny” Carrillo was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on June 20, 1965. He graduated from Clover Park Vocational Technical Institute from Tacoma, Washington. Manny served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from October of 1985 until October of 1988. He married Stephanie C. Adcock on August 8, 1998. Manny’s law enforcement career included being a Correctional Officer, Public Safety Officer and Detention Officer. Manny went back to school to earn his Bachelor of Science degree of Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2007. This led to his career as a Licensed Speech Language Pathology Assistant. Manny enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cooking meats and holiday meals, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lubbock Patriot Guard chapter and other various Veteran support groups as able. He was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Lubbock. I struggle to find the right words to describe exactly what you mean to me and how wonderful of a Dad you were and always will be. You left behind the most beautiful memories. Memories of love, laughter, comfort, family, friendships and faith. That with God all things are possible, and you would remind me that, "God is good, All the time". I can hear you remind me now. You always had a way of making everything seem okay and like there wasn't anything in the world that was impossible. I'm going to miss your surprise lunch visits, those always made my day. I'm going to miss your big hugs, forehead kisses and the sincerity in your eyes when you'd call me your beautiful baby. I'm going to miss the sound of your laugh and how you found joy in just about anything. I'm going to miss how you would randomly come up with a nickname for everyone, they were always so awkwardly fitting. The way you would hand out 'Love Pats', and would laugh when we couldn't handle your shoulder massages. I don't think anyone can cook a steak as good as you... or any meat really. Geoffrey really wanted in on your secrets. We will forever cherish these memories. There's so many things I'm going to miss, my list could go on forever. I will forever love you Dad, you were and are my everything. I can only try to be as good a person as you. You've taught me so much throughout my life. You will never be forgotten, you're everywhere I turn. I sure wish you weren't gone, but since He called your name and you had to go, please listen for me. I'll be talking to you often. There's still so much I wanted you here for and still so much I'll need your advice on. I love you so much Dad! Until we meet again... Krischel Carrillo-Marquez's tribute As I struggle to find the words to describe how much I love him, I will state a few words that describe him. Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle MeMe, PaPa, Veteran, Mentor, Friend, Funny, Caring, Man of the Lord. I will forever carry him in my heart. I pray for comfort for all my family and his friends. For I know that no matter what, you will always be with me.” Joshua Carrillo’s tribute We held Dad’s hand when he took flight. My Dad is the strongest, most hardworking man I know. He worked hard and fought harder and now it was his time to have peace. It’s hard for me to accept. I’m going to miss him picking on me and calling me silly nicknames when he was excited to see me. I’m going to miss his hugs, hearing him laugh, and hearing him hum or sing in the morning while getting ready for work. I know I’ll see him again but until then I will always look to the sky and tell him I love him. I know he loves me. Rest in Peace Dad. I love you more than you’ll know. I’ll always be your baby.
