Patricia Aileen Thompson

Tricia, or "Sissy" was born February 24, 1956 in Brownfield, TX to Bill and Peggy Suggs. She attended Brownfield public schools from elementary through high school graduating in 1974. She and her brother, Billy, were raised to be hard-working. After living in Lubbock and moving to Sweetwater with her spouse, her son, Dustin, arrived in 1983. She was employed by the Brownfield State Bank and Slaton Citizens Bank. Tricia met Charles Thompson through friends and were married 05/09/1986. While working at the Petersburg State Bank and also selling Avon, Tricia completed her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Wayland Baptist University and taught Kindergarten and First Grade for 25 years. Her sons Justin and Dustin remember growing up fondly and how excited they were when their sister, Erin, arrived in 1990. After moving back to Slaton in 2002, Charles and Tricia hosted an exchange student, Arnim Schneider, who was also like family. Her children have wonderful memories of her riding bikes with them, playing in the swimming pool, and attending all their school events. Mom was adventurous - always looking forward to traveling to new places and trying new restaurants and she loved to go to concerts with her friends. Though Tricia loved swimming, traveling, and reading, her favorite role was that of mother, grandparent and great-grandparent. She treasured her time being "Nona", never failing to bring chicken and rice, or the favorite dessert of who came to visit. She loved giving gifts and hugging her family. Tricia will always be remembered for her welcoming home, her amazing home cooked foods, and her desire to be among friends and family. She passed away of a sudden illness in Lubbock, TX, 09/13/2024. We couldn't have asked for a better Mom. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who love her. Tricia is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Peggy Suggs, and her husband, Charles Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Billy Suggs and his spouse, Irene Suggs. She is survived by her children: Justin Thompson, Dustin Thompson, and Erin Stokes and their spouses: Jennifer Thompson, Pamela Thompson, and Ben Stokes. She is survived by nephew, Brady Suggs and his spouse, Chelsea Suggs and their son, Caden as well as her niece, Melissa Uptain, and her spouse, David Uptain and Melissa's sons, Nethanial and Jacob Henry. Nona is survived by grandchildren: Haley McDougle and her spouse, Justice McDougle, Kingsley Thompson, and Eloise Thompson and great-grandchildren: Jeremiah McDougle, Ollie McDougle, Eleanor McDougle, and Evelyn McDougle. Her family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday, 09/16/2024 at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX 1420 Main St, Lubbock, TX 79401. Services celebrating Tricia's life will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on Tuesday, 09/17/2024 at 10:00am
