Peggy Ann Walker

Peggy Ann Exum Walker, of Shallowater, Texas was born on December 31, 1937 in Ranger, Texas to John Exum and Marguerite (Graham). She met Tevis Melton Walker, at a church meeting in Ralls and three months later, they were married on November 30, 1956. Their marriage of 57 years is a testament of unconditional love, through sickness and in health, in valleys of tears and mountaintops of joy, devotion and commitment, patience and respect. Peggy was a faithful servant of the Lord with great compassion and sincerity. The Church of Christ was her family heritage of Biblical teachings but she believed she was part of the unity of Christ in the Lord with all believers in Jesus as her Savior. On April 16, 2014, Jesus called her home to heaven. She will be forever in our hearts. Peggy was an extraordinary seamstress and needlework artist. Her love of God’s creation was evident to all who came and watched the birds from her big kitchen window. She was an avid gardener, using xeriscape plants , cacti and wildflowers. She shared her love of history and reading as well as family photos, which she painstakingly archived. She had a beautiful alto voice and played the piano for many years. Peggy welcomed all into her home and her family. To all those who shared her table of blessed food and conversation, she was known as “Mammaw.” She loved her husband and family dearly. She truly cared for the many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. “In-law” was only a legal term to her as all who married into the family, became that, family. May we all strive to carry on her legacy of faith and heritage. She leaves behind her husband, Tevis, Shallowater; two daughters – Laura Hendrix, her husband Neal, Shallowater; Becky Eineichner, her husband, Chuck, Lubbock; grandchildren – Joshua, his wife Rachael, Lubbock; Sarah Stickney, her husband, Byron, Richardson; Jacob Hendrix; Caleb Hendrix; Benjamin Eineichner; great-grandson – Jackson Walker Hendrix; and adopted as part of the family, Matt Smith. She had three half-brothers – Bob Exum and Jim Exum, Abilene; Stephen King, Dallas; and one half-sister, Kathy Verett (deceased). Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 5:30-7:30pm at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock.
